Magic Beat Raptors 121-114 in NBA Cup Opener Behind Bane and Wagner
Desmond Bane scored 28 points and Franz Wagner added 26 points and 11 assists as Orlando avenged Wednesday's 30-point loss in Toronto, holding off a career-high 41 points from Scottie Barnes.

The Orlando Magic beat the Toronto Raptors 121-114 on Friday night in Toronto in both teams' NBA Cup opener, two days after losing to the same team by 30 points on the same floor. Desmond Bane scored a season-best 28 points, including six 3-pointers, and Franz Wagner set season highs with 26 points and 11 assists for the Magic (2-3). Wendell Carter Jr. scored 20 points and Anthony Black added 17 points and 10 assists.
Orlando's shooting flipped from Wednesday's loss: after going 10 for 35 from 3-point range in the 129-99 defeat, the Magic went 18 of 34 from long distance on Friday and 25 for 29 at the free-throw line. Orlando led 95-88 through three quarters, but Toronto rallied to take a 102-100 lead on an Immanuel Quickley 3-pointer with 8:38 remaining — the Raptors' first lead since the opening quarter.
Black restored Orlando's lead with a 3-pointer with 6:56 left, starting a run that put the Magic back in front for good, and Bane sealed the win with four free throws in the final 24 seconds. Scottie Barnes scored a career-high 41 points on 19-of-34 shooting, with five rebounds and five assists, before fouling out for Toronto, which played its third straight game without Kawhi Leonard, sidelined by swelling in his left knee. The Magic host the Boston Celtics on Sunday.
