Orlando Man Arrested After FDLE Says He Threatened a Mass Shooting at a Jewish Community in Glades County
State agents say Jerry Sneed, 31, of Orlando posted threats that included a firearm's image and the community's location; FDLE agents and Orange County deputies arrested him Wednesday, and the investigation remains active.

A 31-year-old Orlando man is in custody after state investigators said he threatened a mass shooting at a Jewish residential community in Glades County. According to the Florida Department of Law Enforcement's account, Jerry Sneed faces charges of making written or electronic threats to kill, cause bodily injury, carry out a mass shooting or commit an act of terrorism, and a charge of unlawful use of a two-way communication device. The charges are allegations; Sneed is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
The FDLE said its Fort Myers office began investigating Sneed on October 19 after receiving information about social media posts containing the alleged threats. Investigators said the posts included photographs that identified where the residential community was located, along with an image of a firearm posted in connection with the messages. The community, according to a report cited in coverage of the arrest, was established in October and is expected to include around 1,300 housing units.
FDLE agents and the Orange County Sheriff's Office arrested Sneed on Wednesday, and authorities said he allegedly had the same firearm shown in the social media post in his possession when he was taken into custody. The case is being prosecuted by the State Attorney's Office of the 20th Judicial Circuit, and the FDLE said the investigation remains active.
