No Rest for the Magic: Washington Visits the Kia Center Monday Night, 24 Hours After Boston — Then the West Swallows the Schedule

Orlando's 108-97 loss to the Celtics on Sunday afternoon turns straight into a Monday 7:30 p.m. tip against the Wizards at the Kia Center, the last home game before a four-game western trip that runs through Phoenix, Golden State, Sacramento and Utah.

No Rest for the Magic: Washington Visits the Kia Center Monday Night, 24 Hours After Boston — Then the West Swallows the Schedule (Orlando Watch News)

The NBA schedule gives the Magic no evening to sit with Sunday's result. Orlando lost to Boston 108-97 at the Kia Center on Sunday afternoon, and the second night of the back-to-back arrives Monday: the Washington Wizards visit downtown Orlando for a 7:30 p.m. Eastern tip, carried locally on WRDQ TV 27. It is the Magic's second home game in roughly 28 hours, and the last one for a while.

What follows Monday is the season's first real road test, a four-game western swing in seven days: Thursday, November 5 at Phoenix; Saturday, November 7 at Golden State; Tuesday, November 10 at Sacramento; and Wednesday, November 11 at Utah, itself a back-to-back finish. The Magic do not play at the Kia Center again until Friday, November 13, when Milwaukee visits in Emirates NBA Cup group play, and the trip's bookend is a return to Boston on Monday, November 16 — a rematch with the team that just beat them, on the Celtics' floor this time.

That shape makes Monday matter beyond one November game. Back-to-backs are where rotation depth gets its first honest audit, and a home game against Washington, banked before four road games in three time zones, is the difference between leaving town level and leaving town chasing. Tip is 7:30 p.m. Monday at the Kia Center — the same night, across town, UCF opens its basketball season against FGCU, making Monday a full Orlando basketball night before Election Day takes over Tuesday.
