The FHSAA state bowling championship stayed home. Windermere's Ryan Martin won the boys individual state title at the Boardwalk Bowl Entertainment Center in Orlando, defeating Somerset College Prep senior Dylan Beck 734-705 in a three-game series in the final rematch on Thursday, Treasure Coast Newspapers reported. Martin had already beaten Beck once on the day, 509-441, to send him to the consolation bracket.

Beck's third-place finish was the day's other story. He reached the 16-player knockout bracket with a 922 four-game qualifying series — games of 201, 256, 255 and 210 — then beat Park Vista's Jett Kramer 487-415 and South Plantation's Daniel McDevitt 691-682 before the first loss to Martin. In the consolation bracket he beat Hagerty's Johnathan Madruga 508-447 and Southwest Miami's Samuel Garcia 494-417 to earn the rematch. It closed a steady climb: Beck finished 18th at state in each of the previous two years and won the District 12 championship one week before the finals.

The team titles went to the SLAM Spartans, boys champions at 4,192 pins, and Cambridge Christian, girls champions at 3,523. Eden Bastian won the girls individual championship. For Orlando, the finals were a home meet in every sense — the state's best high school bowlers spent their championship day on Orlando lanes, and the boys trophy is staying in Windermere.
