Miami Holds No. 1 in the New AP Top 25, Florida Hangs On at No. 25 and Ohio State Tumbles to No. 11
The Hurricanes kept 62 of 70 first-place votes after surviving North Carolina 38-35, Georgia and Utah round out the top three, USC vaults back in at No. 18 after upsetting the Buckeyes — and the Gators stay ranked despite their loss to Georgia.

Miami is still the No. 1 team in the country. The Hurricanes held the top spot in the Associated Press Top 25 released Sunday for a third straight week, taking 62 first-place votes and 1,740 points after escaping North Carolina with a 38-35 win on Saturday. Georgia, with seven first-place votes, moved to No. 2, and Utah — a top-five team for the first time since 2019 after routing Cincinnati 49-25 — took the remaining first-place vote at No. 3. Notre Dame and UCLA complete the top five.
The weekend's earthquake was in Los Angeles. Ohio State, playing without injured quarterback Julian Sayin, lost 30-18 at USC and fell nine places, from No. 2 to No. 11 — the poll's biggest drop. USC made the opposite trip, re-entering the rankings at No. 18 after receiving votes a week ago, the biggest rise of the week. Indiana, BYU, Kentucky, Alabama and Texas fill out the rest of the top ten.
Florida's second state team kept its foothold: the Gators held No. 25 despite losing to Georgia on Saturday, staying in the poll at the last spot. Neither UCF nor USF received votes in this week's balloting. Miami's hold on No. 1 gets its hardest test immediately — the Hurricanes travel to No. 4 Notre Dame next in a Week 10 top-five matchup.
