Florida Tech Stays Closed Tuesday, Eastern Florida Reopens Tuesday — and Brevard's School District Is Inspecting Before It Decides
Florida Tech has cancelled classes and campus activities for Tuesday while crews clear flooding debris and work to restore power, with normal operations expected to resume Wednesday. Eastern Florida State College reopens Tuesday, and Brevard Public Schools is inspecting its campuses Monday afternoon before deciding whether Tuesday classes can be held.

Tuesday's school map on the Space Coast is being drawn one campus at a time. Florida Tech, which closed Monday, announced Monday afternoon that classes and campus activities are also cancelled for Tuesday, the Palm Beach Post's live flood file reports: crews will be out to clean the campus of flooding debris and work to restore power. The university says all normal operations, including classes, are anticipated to resume Wednesday, November 4. The closure also follows the postponement of Florida Tech's men's and women's Sunshine State Conference soccer quarterfinals, which had been scheduled for Monday.
The county's other college is going the other way. Eastern Florida State College, which closed all four of its campuses Monday because of flooded roadways, will reopen Tuesday, Florida Today reports. For Brevard Public Schools — the district that closed every school Monday — Tuesday was still an open question at press time: spokesperson Janet Murnaghan told Florida Today the district planned to inspect schools for flood damage Monday afternoon to assess whether classes can be held Tuesday. No district decision had been announced in the reporting read this run, and families should watch the district's own channels rather than assume either way.
Brevard is not the only district whose Tuesday is flood-shaped. Schools in Brevard, Glades and Hardee counties were closed Monday, the Palm Beach Post's state roundup reports, and the closures are already rolling forward: DeSoto County has announced its schools will be closed Tuesday and Wednesday, and Hardee County schools will be closed Tuesday. The backdrop for every one of these decisions is the extended flood watch — east central Florida, including Brevard, Volusia, Indian River, St. Lucie, Martin and Okeechobee, stays under a watch through Tuesday morning, so even districts that reopen will be bussing students through a landscape that has not finished draining.
