Downtown drivers should build one closure into their Halloween plans. To safely host the 13th annual Thornton Park District Halloween Block Party, the City of Orlando will close Washington Street from Summerlin Avenue to James Avenue beginning at 12 p.m. on Saturday, October 31, 2026, with the closure running until 5 a.m. on Sunday, November 1, according to the city's road-closure notice for the event on East Washington Street in the 32801 area.

During the closure, temporary no-parking may be in place and notices will be posted, the city says. The Orlando Police Department will be on site to assist with traffic. The block party itself is the evening draw in Thornton Park — the city's listing is a traffic notice, not a ticket page, so attendees should check the event's own details separately and expect the streets around the closure to carry the displaced parking and drop-off traffic.

All lane and street closures and listed times are subject to change based on prevailing or unexpected conditions, the city warns, and drivers should follow posted detours while traveling in the area. Saturday's other downtown Halloween crowds make the same advice worth repeating twice: arrive early, or arrive by a route that never touches Washington Street.
