Fall Fiesta in the Park Returns to Lake Eola Next Weekend for Its 55th Year — With Downtown Road Closures Starting Friday at 6 A.M. (Orlando Watch News)

One of downtown Orlando's oldest weekends is a week away. The Fall Fiesta in the Park returns to Lake Eola Park on Saturday, November 7 and Sunday, November 8 for its 55th year, running 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. both days with free admission. The festival, presented by the City of Orlando and Cox Media Group, fills the lake's edge with hundreds of unique artist, crafter and food booths, live entertainment and family-friendly activities — a tradition the city counts among Central Florida's longest-running.

The part downtown drivers need now is the closure map, because it starts before the festival does. The City of Orlando's official notice closes three streets from Friday, November 6 at 6 a.m. until Sunday, November 8 at 11 p.m.: Central Boulevard from Osceola Circle to Eola Drive, Eola Drive from Robinson Street to just past Washington Street (stopping before the garage exit), and Osceola Circle at Central Boulevard. Temporary no-parking restrictions may also be posted in the area, and the city notes the closures and times can change with conditions; drivers are asked to follow posted detours.

The practical shape of the weekend follows from those two facts. Anyone driving to the Fiesta should plan to park outside the closed ring and walk in — the garage access on Eola Drive is deliberately kept reachable — and anyone who simply drives through downtown next weekend should route around the lake's south and east edges from Friday morning onward, not just during festival hours. The park itself sits at 512 East Washington Street, and admission, as it has been for the Fiesta's five and a half decades, is free.
