SR 408 Work Reaches Orange Blossom Trail Tonight: Nightly Closures Run Through Friday on the Trail and East of John Young Parkway
The Central Florida Expressway Authority lists two nightly work zones starting tonight, November 1, through November 6: Orange Blossom Trail under SR 408 closes nightly, and eastbound SR 408 narrows nightly east of John Young Parkway.

The SR 408 improvement work moves onto one of downtown's busiest crossings tonight. The Central Florida Expressway Authority's project alerts list a nightly road closure on Orange Blossom Trail (U.S. 441) under SR 408 from tonight, Sunday, November 1, through Friday, November 6, and nightly lane closures on eastbound SR 408 east of John Young Parkway over the same November 1-6 window. The authority publishes dates for these alerts rather than clock hours; drivers crossing the Trail under the expressway after dark this week should expect the closure to be in place and plan an alternate crossing.
Two longer-running closures frame the week. The eastbound Anderson Street lane closure, in place since October 5, ends today, November 1, while the Long Street road closure that began October 5 runs through November 15. The work belongs to CFX's twin SR 408 improvement projects between Tampa Avenue and the I-4 interchange: an added eastbound travel lane between Orange Blossom Trail and I-4, and a reconstruction of the SR 408/Tampa Avenue interchange, with the ramps at Tampa Avenue, Orange Blossom Trail, Carter Street and Westmoreland Drive all realigned as part of the build.
The authority's stated aims are improved and more reliable travel times on SR 408, less congestion on the local roads along the corridor — especially during events — and upgraded sidewalks, lighting and landscaping. The published timeline puts local road improvements complete in mid-2027 and the full project complete in early 2029.
